Norwich City midfielder Emiliano Buendia would push for a move if Arsenal were to make a formal bid, according to James Benge of CBS Sports.
The 24-year-old is believed to be one of the North London club’s targets in the January transfer window as they look to sign a creative midfielder. Buendia has starred for Norwich as the club look to return to the Premier League next season.
He has scored seven goals and provided seven assists in 19 appearances in the Championship which has helped the Canaries occupy top spot in the league.
It is believed that the Gunners have held informal talks about a possible deal to sign Buendia but are yet to make a formal bid. Buendia would welcome interest from a top club like Arsenal but Noriwch are unlikely to let him leave on the cheap.
The player has three and a half years remaining on his contract with the Championship side and is seen as an influential player at the club. It is being reported that Norwich value him at around £40 million.
The Gunners have limited funds in the January transfer window due to the financial implications brought on by the pandemic and will have to offload some of their players before making signings.
They have struggled to create chances in front of goal and would like to recruit a creative midfielder. In addition to Buendia, they have been linked with Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Brandt, Real Madrid’s Isco and Inter Milan’s Christian Eriksen.
This season, Buendia has created 62 chances for Norwich and is currently the most prolific chance creator in Europe. Last season, he ranked fourth for big chances created, sixth for successful take-ons and eleventh for expected and actual assists in the Premier League.
