Mesut Ozil is reportedly on the verge of joining Fenerbahce, according to Turkish journalist Berkay Tokgoz via Sport Witness.
The German playmaker has six months remaining on his contract with Arsenal but has been left out of the club’s Premier League and Europa League squads this season. He has not played a single minute of football for the Gunners in the 2020/21 campaign. Manager Mikel Arteta has the option to include Ozil in the club’s squad in February but it is widely expected that this will not be the case.
The former Real Madrid man is currently in Turkey and a number of reports are emerging from the country that he is close to completing his move to Fenerbahce. It is being reported that he will wear the number 23 jersey at the club.

Fenerbahce have been linked with Ozil for a number of years now and it was even reported that the club had held secret talks with the player and his agent recently. It was expected that he would see out the remainder of his contract with the North London club before joining the Turkish side but it looks like his move will happen earlier than initially thought.
Arsenal are keen on moving on a number of their players in the January transfer window and have already sent Sead Kolasinac out on loan. Ozil, Sokratis and Mustafi are also believed to be players that the Gunners would like to move on this month. It looks like Arsenal’s Number 10 is not far away from becoming Fenerbahce’s Number 23.
