Genoa interested in both Sokratis and Mustafi

Genoa are interested in both Sokratis and Shkodran Mustafi, according to Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sports Italy.

Sokratis played for Genoa from 2008 to 2010 and has fond memories of his time at the club. He has often posted messages of support on social media ahead of derbies against their rivals Sampdoria. It is understood that the player is interested in a move back to the Italian side and the club are keen to make this happen.

They are willing to offer him a two-and-a-half year deal but the former Borussia Dortmund central defender is also attracting interest from Fenerbahce and is waiting to see what kind of deal they offer him.

Genoa are in a strong position as they believe they can match the Turkish club’s offer for the 32-year-old. The Greek defender has been left out of the Gunners’ Premier League and Europa League squads and has not made a single appearance for the senior side this season.

The Italian club are also interested in Shkodran Mustafi who played for their rivals Sampdoria from 2012 to 2014. It is believed that they have held initial talks with the player but they are more likely to sign Sokratis.

Arenal are keen on moving a number of their players on in the January transfer window and would be happy to facilitate transfers for Sokratis and Mustafi who both have just six months remaining on their contracts with the North London club.
