Arsenal target Marcel Sabitzer plans on leaving Red Bull Leipzig as a free agent when his contract expires in the summer of 2022, according to Sky Sports Germany via Eurosport.
Sabitzer has been one of RB Leipzig’s standout players in recent seasons and has attracted interest from a host of top European clubs including Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. It is understood that the player would like to honour his contract with the German side and stay at the club for the next eighteen months.
RB Leipzig are known to be keen on receiving transfer fees for their top assets and will be looking to do the same with Sabitzer. They are keen to tie him down to a new contract but the Austrian midfielder has no intention of signing a new deal. If the German club would like to receive a transfer fee for the player, they will have to consider the possibility of selling him in the summer.
On Sabitzer’s future, the club’s sports director, Markus Krosche said:
“We will exchange ideas in the next few weeks. We’ll see how he sees his future and his development here with us.”
This season, the 26-year-old has scored three goals and provided three assists in 18 appearances across all competitions. Since joining RB Leipzig in 2014, he has scored 46 goals and provided 38 assists in 206 appearances.
