Buendia not expecting Arsenal move to materialise this month as Gunners focus on loan options

Norwich City midfielder Emiliano Buendia is not expecting a move to Arsenal to materialise this month as the Gunners focus on loan options in the January transfer window, according to Charles Watts of Goal.
The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to North London and is believed to be admired by key decision makers at the Emirates. Despite being interested in the creative midfielder, his £40 million valuation means that the Gunners are unlikely to make a move for him this month.
The Argentine is believed to be happy to wait until the summer before making a decision on his future. He thinks he should be playing in the Premier League and would be open to a move to Arsenal this month but accepts that a transfer is unlikely to happen so deep into the transfer window.

He is completely focussed on helping Norwich return to England’s top division after just a single season in the Championship. He has been in great form this season which has seen him score seven goals and provide seven assists in 20 league appearances. Norwich City are currently top of the table in the Championship and are four points clear of their closest challengers, Swansea.
The player’s representatives, who also look after Emiliano Martinez, are understood to have a good relationship with Arsenal and are in regular contact with technical director Edu Gaspar. They know that the Gunners are interested in their client but no concrete talks regarding a transfer have taken place and Norwich have not been contacted by the North London club so far.
Speaking about Buendia earlier this week, Norwich boss Daniel Farke said:
“He is a proper team-mate, concentrated in the training sessions and the last game.”
“He is absolutely happy and knows he has a coach and team-mates who want him to be successful and love him.”
“Arsenal are one of the best clubs in this country and also Europe. But it makes no sense to have a move in January.”
Agents across Europe are well aware of Arsenal’s inclination to sign a creative midfielder this month but it looks like if any deal were to materialise, it would be a short-term loan until the end of the season to provide cover for Emile Smith-Rowe.

The Gunners were interested in Isco earlier this month but it looks unlikely that the Spaniard will leave Real Madrid this month. They have also been linked with Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Brandt and Inter Milan’s Christian Eriksen.
