Lucas Torreira’s agent, Pablo Bentancur, has ruled out the possibility of the 24-year-old prematurely ending his loan spell at Atletico Madrid, according to Italian website FCInter1908 via football.london.
The Uruguay international has started just two games in La Liga this season for the Rojiblancos and it was reported that he could be looking to cut short his loan spell in Spain and move to another side to play regular football. This season, he has scored one goal and provided one assist in 13 appearances across all competitions for the Spanish giants but his last league start came in October.
He has been linked with moves to Valencia, Torino, Fiorentina, Lazio and Inter Milan. It was reported by Italian media outlet Tuttosport that Inter were considering the possibility of a loan swap that would have seen Eriksen head to the Emirates for the remainder of the season in exchange for the 24-year-old.
His agent has refuted these rumours and insisted that Torreira will see out the season with Atletico. He said:
“No contact with Inter for Torreira. I have not received any calls. Torreira is at Atletico, he is very well in Madrid and will not move in January.”
Arsenal’s technical director, Edu Gaspar, recently made it clear that the club would reconsider the Uruguayan midfielder’s loan at Atletico Madrid if the player was unhappy. He said that he had received calls from a number of clubs who were interested in signing Torreira but it looks like the 24-year-old will remain an Atletico player for the rest of the season.
