Arsenal interested in 18-year-old Hibernian left back Josh Doig

Arsenal are interested in promising 18-year-old Hibernian left back Josh Doig, according to Sky Sports.

After the departure of Sead Kolasinac, the Gunners are in need of cover for Tierney as he is the only left-footed full back at the club. Manager Mikel Arteta has made it clear that the North London side are open to finding the right opportunity to strengthen their options at left back. The Gunners have been using right footed players like Cedric Soares and Ainsley Maitland-Niles as cover for Tierney.

Doig has been a revelation for Hibernian this season. In the 2020/21 campaign, he has provided two assists in 19 appearances across all competitions. He has put in a number of impressive performances since making his debut for the Scottish club in August.

The 18-year-old has represented Scotland at the Under-18 level and is contracted to Hibernian until 2023. As a result of his meteoric rise, he has attracted interest from a number of sides.

Celtic and Chelsea are also believed to be keeping tabs on the Scottish defender who has been touted as the next Kieran Tierney. It is understood that while the Scottish champions are interested in the player, they do not plan on making a move for Doig in the January transfer window.
