Arsenal consider late move for Patrick van Aanholt

Arsenal are considering making a late move for Crystal Palace left back Patrick van Aanholt, according to the Mirror.

The Gunners are looking to sign a backup left back as Kieran Tierney is currently the only left-footed left back at the club after the departure of Sead Kolasinac who joined Schalke on loan earlier this month.

Van Aanholt has seen reduced game time this season due to injuries and the emergence of Tyrick Mitchell at Crystal Palace. It was reported that the North London club were interested in Mitchell but Palace see him as their long term solution at left back. As a result, the Gunners have shifted their attention to Van Aanholt.

The 30-year-old has just six months remaining on his contract with the Eagles and the club would prefer to let him leave this month rather than allow him to leave on a free transfer in the summer. The player is keen on regular game time with the European Championship on the horizon.

The Dutchman has been at Selhurst Park for four years. He joined the club from Sunderland in 2017. Van Aanholt started his career at Chelsea. Since signing for Palace, has scored 14 goals and provided six assists in 123 games across all competitions. This season, he has made 12 appearances in all competitions.
