Newcastle interested in signing Willock on loan

Newcastle United are interested in signing Joe Willock on loan for the rest of the season, according to the Daily Mail.

This season, the 21-year-old has scored three goals and provided three assists for the Gunners across all competitions but has only started twice in the Premier League. He has starred for the North London side in the Europa League and it is understood that the player wants to get regular game time.

Arsenal are understood to have reservations over letting Willock leave the club on deadline day as they are also in the process of facilitating a loan move for Ainsley Maitland-Niles who has been linked with West Brom, Southampton, Newcastle and Leicester.

Steve Bruce is keen on signing Willock and the player is at the top of the Newcastle manager’s transfer wishlist. The club are also interested in Leicester City’s Hamza Choudhury and have made enquiries about Oliver Ntcham of Celtic. Newcastle are looking to make two loan signings before the end of the transfer window.

Willock is an Arsenal academy graduate and is highly rated by the Gunners. He is struggling for game time and a loan could improve his game and allow him to compete for a place in the Arsenal first team next season.
