Medley signs for Kilmarnock on loan

Arsenal defender Zech Medley has signed for Scottish side Kilmarnock on loan for the rest of the season.

The 20-year-old was recalled from his loan spell at Gillingham before this move to Scotland was finalised. It is understood that the North London club would like the highly-rated, towering central defender to play at a higher level and have facilitated this loan as a result.

During his time at the English third division side, he made 18 appearances in all competitions of which 12 appearances came in League One. The player will look to continue his encouraging development at Kilmarnock.

Medley has been a regular member of Arsenal’s Under-23 team in recent seasons and impressed enough to break into the senior squad. He made his first team debut against Vorskla Poltava in the Europa League in 2018. He went on to play against Qarabag in the same competition before being introduced as a late substitute in an FA Cup third-round victory over Blackpool.

The 20-year-old is a graduate of the Chelsea youth academy and joined the Gunners from the Blues as a scholar in November 2016. He has risen up the ranks at Arsenal and is highly rated by coaches at the club.
