Arsenal interested in Inter Milan right back Hakimi

Arsenal are interested in Inter Milan right back Achraf Hakimi, according to The Athletic via football.london.

The Gunners have a long standing interest in the 22-year-old and were believed to have been interested in signing the player last summer. They eventually decided against pursuing this deal due to the price and the payment structure in addition to the fact that they wanted Hector Bellerin to be their first-choice right back. Hakimi ended up moving from Real Madrid to Inter Milan for just over £35 million.

The Italian club were supposed to pay Real Madrid just under £9 million as the first installment of the transfer fee but due to Inter’s financial limitations, both clubs agreed on delaying the first payment until the end of March. Unfortunately, Antonio Conte’s side are still financially stretched and could be willing to sell Hakimi this summer.

The former Real Madrid defender is believed to be happy at the San Siro but would be open to a move to the Premier League. In addition to the Gunners, Chelsea are understood to be interested in the player.

Hakimi has had an impressive season in Italy which has seen him score six goals and provide five assists in 27 appearances across all competitions. He is one of the most exciting young full backs in European football.
