Ryan returns to full training
|Arsenal goalkeeper Mat Ryan has returned to full training, according to Charles Watts of Goal.
The 28-year-old joined the Gunners from Brighton on loan for the rest of the season in the January transfer window. He was on the bench just days later when the North London side faced Southampton in the FA Cup but is yet to make his debut for the club.
He suffered a muscular injury which caused him to miss out on the matchday squad in the last two Premier League games. Bernd Leno was sent off in the Gunners’ 2-1 defeat to Wolves at Molineux and as a result, the German goalkeeper will miss his side’s next three Premier League games.
In his pre-match press conference, manager Mikel Arteta indicated that Ryan was yet to train with the first team but that Runarsson was fit if called upon. It has now emerged that Ryan trained with the first team today and could be passed fit ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Aston Villa at Villa Park on Saturday.
Ryan has Premier League experience and is likely to be preferred over the talented but raw Runarsson who has seemed shaky in his six appearances for the North London side in all competitions.
