Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka and Bernd Leno have been nominated for the Premier League’s Player of the Month award for January.
Since the Gunners’ turnaround in form, Saka has been in scintillating form. He scored three goals and provided one assist in five Premier League games in January. His bright performances helped Arsenal stay undefeated in January and saw them pick up 11 points from a possible 15 in the league. His form has meant that he is currently undroppable and is keeping players like Willian on the bench.
The North London side have improved their defensive record in the last six weeks and have only conceded more goals than Manchester City in the Premier League this season. Leno has been one of Arsenal’s standout players this season and has been particularly impressive since the turn of the year. He kept four clean sheets in five league games in January.
Arteta will be concerned about the fact that Leno will not be available for his side’s next three league games against Aston Villa, Leeds United and Manchester City due to his sending off in Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat to Wolves at Molineux. He will be hoping that new signing Mat Ryan returns to fitness in time as Alex Runarsson does not have any Premier League experience.
