Partey praises new Arsenal signing Odegaard
|Thomas Partey has praised new Arsenal signing Martin Odegaard, according to Stadium Astro via Goal.
The Ghana international played against the 22-year-old during his time at Atletico Madrid and it is evident that the Norway international made a very positive impression on Partey during their duels in midfield.
On Odegaard, the 27-year-old said:
“It’s difficult when you play against him. I remember playing against him, he’s so intelligent, he is always quick on the ball, he doesn’t give you a chance to win the ball.”
“It’s amazing to have him here. I hope he has a great season and he’s able to help us achieve what we want to achieve.”
Odegaard joined the North London side on loan for the rest of the season from Real Madrid. The move was completed towards the end of the January transfer window. The Norwegian midfielder was not happy about his lack of game time in Madrid and asked the Spanish giants to let him leave the club on loan.
Real Sociedad, the team he played for during the 2019/20 season, were the favourites for his signature but the Gunners entered the race for the player and convinced him that North London was the best place for him to develop his game.
The 22-year-old is yet to start a game for the Gunners but has come off the bench for Arteta’s side twice in the Premier League since moving to the Emirates.
He was particularly impressive in Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa and looks to be finding his feet in the North London side’s midfield. It won’t be long until we see the Norway international start a game in the Premier League.
