Arsenal are keeping tabs on Dinos Mavropanos’ development at Bundesliga side Stuttgart and the player will likely get a chance to impress manager Mikel Arteta in pre-season training ahead of the 2021/22 campaign, according to Chris Wheatley of football.london.
The 23-year-old joined the German side on a season-long loan last summer. The Greek defender signed a new contract with the Gunners right before confirming his loan move to Germany. He is highly rated by the club and it is understood that the Gunners are closely following his progress in the Bundesliga.
He had a surgery on his meniscus a couple of months ago but has now returned to fitness and has started Stuttgart’s last two league games. He started and kept a clean sheet in the 2-0 victory over Mainz at the end of January. Since returning to full fitness, his performances have been promising.
This season, the 23-year-old has made ten appearances in all competitions for Stuttgart. The German side are currently tenth in the Bundesliga. Last season, Mavropanos helped German second divison side FC Nurnberg secure their place in the league with a series of impressive performances.
The Greek central defender has struggled with injury problems and so has been limited to making just eight appearances for Arsenal’s first team. He has been impressive whenever he has played for the Gunners and with the experience he has gained over the last two seasons, he will definitely give Arteta something to think about ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.
