Saka named Arsenal’s player of the month for the second time in a row

Bukayo Saka has won Arsenal’s Player of the Month award for January. This is the second successive month that the 19-year-old has bagged this prize.

The Arsenal academy graduate scored a wonderful team goal in the Gunners’ 4-0 win over West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League. He linked up with Emile Smith-Rowe and Alexandre Lacazette to score a sumptuous goal in that game.

The 19-year-old found the back of the net again in the North London side’s 3-0 win over Newcastle United in the league later that month. He was spotted by Smith-Rowe and scored a well-taken goal to give the Gunners a two-goal cushion.

He gave Mikel Arteta’s side the lead in their next Premier League game which was away to Southampton. The game was finely poised at 1-1 and the Englishman broke the deadlock towards the end of the first half. The North London club ran out 3-1 winners and in addition to scoring a crucial goal, Saka set up Arsenal’s third with a wonderful first time cross to Lacazette who put the ball in the back of the net.

The England international has added goals to his game this season and January was evidence of his increasing goal threat. He received 46% of the votes for the Player of the Month award. Emile Smith-Rowe finished in second place and Rob Holding placed third.
