Kevin Campbell schools Maitland-Niles for bust-up with Arteta

Former Arsenal player Kevin Campbell has come out hard against Ainsley Maitland-Niles after a newspaper revealed that the 24-year-old was involved in an argument with coach Mikel Arteta.

The player is in talks with other clubs after the reported bust-up over his position within the team. The youngster has apologised and agreed to play as the centre-back for Arteta, but his departure from the Gunners is expected to take place soon.

Campbell feels that the Arsenal players need to respect the manager’s decision regardless of the situation.

“It can be difficult because fans get involved. But he is the manager of the club, if he tells you to jump five metres, you jump five metres,” the Arsenal icon told Football Insider. “If you don’t do it, he will find someone who will.”

Campbell feels that the players need to consider the coach’s word whilst they are at the Emirates Stadium.

“If you can knock over the beehive you get some movement. Of course, Arteta is being questioned, he’s a manager who is learning on the job,” he added.

The ex-football was responding to journalist Zach Lowry, who had questioned why Mikel Arteta did not apologise after being involved in the argument with his player.
