Arsenal youth defender Brooke Norton-Cuffy has revealed that he has undergone surgery after an injury forced him to pull out from the England u18s.
The 17-year-old has become a well-known name in the UK for his defensive skills. After being called for the Wales game on September 3, the Gunner had to withdraw reportedly because of an undisclosed injury that he suffered while training with the senior team.
The footballer took to Twitter to reveal the news. “Minor setback but ready to come back stronger,” he wrote. “Many of you probably don’t know, but today I had an operation. The surgery went well and I will be back soon.”
GoonerTalk haven’t yet ascertained where he sustained the injury or when will he be cleared for club participation.
Norton-Cuffy isn’t the only Arsenal star to have picked up an injury during the international break. Egypt midfielder Mohamed Elneny was sidelined on September 3 after picking up a muscular problem during training.
The defensive midfielder missed out on the club’s Saturday match against Norwich City at the Emirates Stadium that the hosts won 1-0. Another senior team star – Bosnia’s Sead Kolašinac – got injured during the France-Bosnia clash which forced him to leave the game midway.
