Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand believes that Arsenal can make a comeback in the Premier League if captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang can get back to his best form soon.

The former Dortmund star was in a sublime touch when he first arrived at the Emirates Stadium but his late form slump has resulted in lack of goals for the team.

“The biggest thing for you guys is that Aubameyang scored, your talisman, if he plays well and scored goals Arsenal will jump up the league,” Ferdinand said while speaking on Vibe with Five.

After three consecutive losses this season, Arsenal opened their account in the fourth showdown against Norwich at home. They edged past the visitors 1-0, thanks to Aubameyang secondhalf strike.

“Since he signed his new deal he’s struggled for form, he’s struggled for goals. He’s got that goal now, so let’s see you boys start motoring. Because as much as we take the mick out of you, I do like to see Arsenal do well, I’ve got to be honest,” the ex-United man said.

Aubameyang seems to lack more options up front. With Mikel Arteta still sorting out his regular starters, the captain may need some more time to get back to his absolute best. The North London side will play Burnley next on September 18.
