Aaron Ramsdale has become Mikel Arteta’s go-to goalkeeper without the Arsenal boss actually admitting it before media. His second successive clean sheet in the Premier League against Burnley shows that he’s head and shoulder above colleague Bernd Leno.

The Gunners may not have edged past Burley 1-0 had Ramsdale not made spectacular saves throughout the away clash, just ask Ben White about it.

The keeper is proving his critics wrong who claimed that Arsenal should not have paid £24m from Sheffield United this season.

Gunners legend Ian Wright also seemed to be a fan of the newly-signed star. “Brilliant today Aaron,” the Arsenal veteran commented on the 23-year-old’s Instagram post.

Kalvin Phillips and Ben Fosters were there as well to heap praises on the young keeper.

Arteta started Ramsdale instead of Leno right after Manchester City thrashed the Gunners 5-0 in the league. When asked about his tactical change, he said: “We want them to make each other better. We are competing against the opponent, we are not competing against each other here.

“We are just trying to bring players that can raise the level of the player that is playing the position, the level of the team, the level of the club. This is the only reason.”

The Arsenal boss added that Leno is gutted to be benched, but he supports Ramsdale like a “top professional”.
