Report: Manor Solomon ready to join Arsenal after £17 million bid
|Arsenal have offered £17 million to Shakhtar Donetsk to sign Manor Solomon. The Israeli star has been impressive in his Donetsk stint, scoring twice in five games so far this season, according to Sport 5.
In a recent interview, the player revealed that the Donetsk management is fine with his decision to part ways with the team around next summer. “I explained to (Shakhtar) my main goal. I really like the club and the city but I explained to them my dream is to go to the biggest leagues and they understand that,” the 22-year-old explained.
Solomon made it clear that he would prefer rubbing shoulders with elite players than receive a hefty pay.
“If money had been my priority for a long time, I would have signed a new contract with Shakhtar. But my first priority is football – first of all, to get as far as possible and only then the money,” he said. “Money is important but football and the dream comes first. No matter how much money I get, I won’t go to places like China or Dubai because I want to reach the highest level.
The Israel international was under the spotlight after he nine goals in the Champions League last season. Two of nine goals came up against Real Madrid. He could play as an attacking midfielder as well as a winger.
Aston Villa were reportedly also keen on signing Solomon, but the Premier League side then opted for Bayer Leverkusen’s Leon Bailey instead.
