Gary Neville reacts to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s Tottenham display
|Manchester United veteran Gary Neville was impressed with Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang‘s performance in the home game against Tottenham Hotspurs. Gunners won 3-1 to secure the 10th spot in the points table.
“Before this game today, when you saw that team come through and you saw the three young ones behind Aubameyang,” Neville said while speaking onĀ The Gary Neville Podcast.
“I thought they’d lost him (Aubameyang) a few months ago, I thought he doesn’t look like he wants to be here anymore. But today it was really interesting because I thought from the first minute he set the tone as a striker with the speed of his pressing and the young ones in behind really did well.”
After a poor last season, the Arsenal captain has upped his game this year. He has already got two goals in the Premier League. Neville loved how the Gabon striker led the team from the front at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
Emile Smith Rowe opened the scoring lines on the 12th minute followed by Aubameyang’s strike in the 28th minute. Bukayo Saka got a goal for himself in the 35th minute. Son Heung-min got a consolation goal in the 80th minute of the game, but it was too little too late for the visitors.
Spurs are now 11th in the league standings.
