Arsenal fans hail Aaron Ramsdale’s goalkeeping display vs Southampton

A selection of Arsenal fans on Twitter were delighted with the performance of goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale during the club’s 3-0 Premier League win over Southampton.

The Gunners returned to winning ways in fine fashion against the Saints. Alexandre Lacazette opened the scoring in the 21st minute. Martin Odegaard doubled the lead soon after.

Shortly after the hour mark, Gabriel Magalhaes headed in the club’s third goal, but there were plenty of chances offered to the Saints over the course of 90 minutes.

Ramsdale has been terrific since his Premier League debut for the club back in September. He kept his seventh clean sheet of the campaign with another top showing.

The England international came up with six saves while his distribution was top notch once more. His highlight was a superb long ball for Gabriel Martinelli to launch a counter-attack.

There were question marks over Ramsdale’s shot-stopping after he was signed from Sheffield United last summer. His selection ahead of Bernd Leno in September also came as a surprise.

However, the 23-year-old has proved his doubters wrong with plenty of stand-out performances. The Gunners conceded chances despite the win yesterday, but Ramsdale controlled the proceedings.

The club will be aiming to build a winning run during the festive period, and Ramsdale will be key between the sticks.

While the Gunners backline has been earning plaudits from fans, the opposition have created scoring opportunities. Ramsdale’s efforts have been rewarded lately with back-to-back Player of the Month awards.
