Arsenal likely to make Dusan Vlahovic offer in the next few days
|Arsenal are planning to make a €60 million offer for Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic in the next few days, Calciomercato’s Eleonora Trotta claims.
The Gunners have identified the Serbian as their prime target to bolster the frontline, but they are yet to make a formal transfer approach for his services.
We are now into the midway point of the transfer window, and it appears the Gunners are now weighing up a €60m bid for the highly-rated marksman.
Vlahovic has snubbed a new deal beyond the summer of 2023, and it is reported that Fiorentina would like to sell him during the ongoing transfer window.
They are already eyeing a potential successor. Talks are underway with Julian Alvarez’s representatives.
Our view:
Vlahovic has turned into one of Europe’s hottest properties over the past 12 months. He netted a stunning 41 goals for club and country in the last calendar year.
The striker has a secret release clause that will become active at the end of the season, but the Gunners are determined to sign him now to avoid fierce competition.
The only concern for them could be the structure of the payments. The Serie A outfit want the majority of the transfer fee paid up front for the Serbia international.
The Gunners, on the other hand, are looking to pay the fee over four years. It remains to be seen whether they can negotiate a suitable agreement in the coming days.
A new striker has become a necessity for the club, particularly with news emerging that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is suffering from ‘heart lesions’ after Covid-19.
The 32-year-old was dropped by manager Mikel Arteta for a disciplinary breach last month. It was followed by a bout of coronavirus before the surprise update from Gabon.
Hopefully, he can make a quick recovery from the untimely setback. The arrival of Vlahovic this month could pave the way for Eddie Nketiah to leave on a cut-price deal.
The club graduate has entered the final six months of his contract. He has been linked with Crystal Palace and Brighton & Hove Albion over the past couple of weeks.
