Wilfried Zaha still on Arsenal’s radar
|Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha is still a potential target for Arsenal, according to transfer expert Dean Jones.
The Gunners are expected to be in the market for a new winger as Nicolas Pepe closes in a season-long loan move to Ligue 1 outfit OGC Nice.
Yeremy Pino and Pedro Neto are thought to be the leading candidates in respect to who Arsenal turn to after Pepe’s departure but a new name has now entered the fray.
“They [Pino and Neto] are not the only two names [Arsenal] are looking at…In the background, there is Wilfried Zaha,” Jones said on The Done Deal Show.
“That deal is not moving forward at the moment, but Zaha is definitely one of those players that ticks the boxes and that Arsenal have an eye on.
“We will have to wait and see if they go down that path, Zaha is obviously in red-hot form at the moment.”
This is not the first time that Zaha has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium as Unai Emery plotted a move for the Ivorian back in 2019 before eventually acquiring the services of Nicolas Pepe, whose Arsenal career has been underwhelming, to say the least.
With Zaha now in the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park, Palace may be willing to part ways with the 29-year-old to avoid losing him for free next summer.
However, with just over a week left before the transfer window shuts, Patrick Vieira’s men may struggle to acquire a proper replacement for Zaha should they sell him and hence, the South Londoners could opt to keep hold of their most prized asset.
Off the back of his most productive campaign last time out where he bagged 15 goals across all competitions, Zaha has picked up where he left off with three goals in as many games this term.
