Arsenal suffer double injury blow ahead of FC Zurich clash
|Arsenal have suffered a double injury blow ahead of their Europa League clash against FC Zurich tomorrow.
The north London giants are already without Mohamed Elneny, Reiss Nelson and Thomas Partey with injuries, and they have now suffered a fresh setback.
According to Charles Watts, the club have flown out to Zurich with a strong squad, but Emile Smith Rowe and Cedric Soares did not travel due to injury.
Cedric has dropped down the pecking order this season with Ben White being transformed into a right-back.
Takehiro Tomiyasu is currently regarded as the deputy to the England international. He could be set for a full 90 minutes tomorrow with Cedric sidelined.
Meanwhile, the injury to Smith Rowe is a big blow for the Gunners, considering he has played just 47 minutes since the beginning of the league campaign.
The Gunners graduate was in discomfort during a warm down session after the Manchester United game on Sunday. He seems to be carrying a groin issue.
Hopefully, he has been left out as only a precaution and will be available for Sunday’s game against Everton.
Arsenal will be determined to return to winning ways tomorrow after a frustrating loss at Old Trafford.
The Gunners dominated the possession against the Red Devils, but they were undone by the lack of concentration. United excelled on the counter-attack.
Mikel Arteta will want a strong response from his side against Zurich. Arsenal will be favourites, but can’t be complacent and need to get the job done with three points.
