Predicted Arsenal line-up vs PSV Eindhoven
|Arsenal will face PSV Eindhoven on the road in Thursday’s Europa League group stage encounter.
The Gunners are currently top of Group A with 12 points, five ahead of PSV. They need just one more point from the next two games to secure the first position and can accomplish the task tomorrow.
The north London giants are set to be without Mohamed Elneny, Emile Smith Rowe, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Marquinhos for the Netherlands trip. The latter has been sidelined with an illness.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Predicted Line-up:
Matt Turner has played every minute of Arsenal’s Europa League campaign in goal. The United States international is expected to start ahead of Aaron Ramsdale, but it remains to be seen whether he is picked for knock-out phase of the competition.
Rob Holding and Kieran Tierney are expected to feature in the four-man defence. Alongside them, it should be Ben White and William Saliba based on Mikel Arteta’s rotation policy. Takehiro Tomiyasu and Gabriel Magalhaes started on matchday four with White and Saliba being on the bench. It could be vice versa now.
In midfield, Albert Sambi Lokonga has started every Europa League game this term from the holding midfield role with league regular Thomas Partey featuring on the bench. It should be the same. The Belgian is expected to be partnered by Granit Xhaka, who has started every game but one for Arsenal this campaign.
Xhaka has been a revelation for the Gunners this term with seven goal contributions. He is currently on two yellow cards and just one booking from a suspension. It may not be bad time to pick one. Further forward, there could be a couple of changes from the 1-0 win over PSV at the Emirates Stadium last week.
Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira could drop to the bench to be replaced by Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Odegaard. Arteta has challenged Bukayo Saka to play 70 games in a season and the Gunners graduate should start too. Eddie Nketiah is expected to lead the line, having done so in every Europa League game.
