Mykhaylo Mudryk praises Arsenal ahead of possible January move

Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk has praised Arsenal’s playing style under manager Mikel Arteta in an exclusive YouTube interview with Vlada Zinchenko.

The Ukrainian has been a transfer target for the Gunners since last summer and there have been suggestions that the club could make a fresh approach in January.

The 21-year-old won’t come for cheap with Shakhtar valuing him between £60-65 million, but this has not stopped him from talking up a move to the Emirates.

Speaking to Vlada, the highly-rated winger said that he regularly checks on Arsenal’s scores and added that he also watches them playing whenever time permits.

He said: “Yeah. I check on them on MyScore and know when they’re playing I can check on them. I also watch them too. They are a very dynamic side, in general not just in controlling possession but also in scoring goals.”

Mudryk added that he would choose Arsenal over sitting on the bench at Real Madrid. Even if he is not a guaranteed starter, he wants a fair chance to prove himself.

He added: “From a purely hypothetical perspective if there was the option of being a bench player for Real Madrid or a starter for Arsenal, I’d probably choose Arsenal.”

“But it’s a tough question and involves a lot of factors in my answer. I would first want to know from the head coach that even if I wasn’t a guaranteed starter, that I’d receive a chance.”

Mudryk was a relatively unknown when Arsenal were linked with him over the summer, but his performances this campaign have caught the eye of several European clubs.

Premier League rivals Manchester United have also entered the race for the left winger, who has contributed eight goals and eight assists from 16 appearances this season.

Five of his goal contributions were in Champions League group stage. His European displays have definitely enhanced his reputation and Arsenal must look to land his services.

January could be an ideal time for the Gunners to pursue him as rivals United are unlikely to make a huge outlay on Mudryk after their £220 million summer spending spree.

Gabriel Martinelli is currently an undisputed starter on the left wing for Arsenal, but the Gunners need more competition for places if they are to compete for the league title.

Mudryk would be a fantastic purchase with similar qualities to Martinelli. He has superb pace, dribbling ability and does not shy away from helping out in defensive situations.
