Arsenal join Chelsea and Spurs in race for Adrien Rabiot

Arsenal have joined Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot, according to Calciomercato.

Premier League rivals Manchester United agreed a €20 million deal to sign Rabiot in the summer, but a transfer did not materialise due to the midfielder’s €10m annual wage demands.

This has proved a blessing in disguise for the 27-year-old.

Rabiot registered just two assists from 45 appearances for the Bianconeri last season. In comparison, he has already amassed five goals and two assists from just 16 outings this campaign.

The former PSG star has also excelled for Les Bleus and recently bagged a goal and an assist in the 4-1 win over Australia in the World Cup. It can be said that he is in the form of his life.

It is now reported that Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are all interested in the midfielder whose contract with the Bianconeri expires at the end of the campaign.

Rabiot’s €10m per year demands have put the Bianconeri off and it is claimed that the Premier League trio are willing to meet his requirements to lure him to the English top-flight.

Arsenal must look into mid-season deal for Rabiot

The Gunners are looking to bring in quality midfielder midway through the campaign and Rabiot could be available for a knockdown fee when the transfer window reopens.

The Bianconeri were willing to offload him for €20m earlier in the summer. They could be tempted to accept a figure of around €10m in January instead of losing him on a free transfer.

While the Frenchman has made several goal contributions this term, he has also caught the eye defensively. He has averaged an impressive two tackles and one interception per game.

The Gunners can discuss personal terms over a pre-contract with Rabiot in January, but Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur could beat them to the player with a mid-season deal.

Chelsea are more desperate for a midfield signing after their poor start to the campaign while Spurs can’t be ignored as managing director Fabio Paratici has strong Juventus links.

He was formerly the CEO of the Serie A giants for 11 years. Having already signed Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur from the Turin club, Spurs should fancy another deal with them.

Hence, Arsenal must be pro-active in the pursuit of Rabiot. Their position at the top of the Premier League could be used as an incentive to lure Rabiot, who has been long linked with the club.
