Arsenal have chance to sign Adrien Rabiot after Premier League admission

Arsenal have the opportunity to sign Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot in a bargain deal in January following his big Premier League admission.

The Frenchman was seemingly on his way to Manchester United last summer. A fee of £15 million was agreed between the clubs, but the transfer fell through on personal terms.

The Red Devils refused to meet his wage demands of £165,000-a-week and this has proved a blessing in disguise for Rabiot, who has been superb for club and country this term.

The 27-year-old was one of Juventus’ best performers before the World Cup. He bagged five goals and two assists from his 16 appearances across all competitions.

Defensively, he was also brilliant with an average of two tackles and one interception per game. He completed nearly 87 per cent of his passes for the Bianconeri.

The Frenchman has carried over his form to the World Cup and has now talked about his ambition to play in the Premier League which should encourage Arsenal.

He told reporters yesterday: “I have always said that I would like to play in England in my career. Will it be at the end of my contract? I don’t know, but I have this goal.”

Arsenal can lure Rabiot for knockdown fee in January

Rabiot has been a long-term target for the Gunners. The Frenchman was frequently linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium during their time under manager Arsene Wenger.

The club are currently on the look out for a quality central midfielder and Rabiot should be under consideration as he would be available for a bargain price at the turn of the year.

He will enter the final six months of his contract at Juventus in January. The Serie A outfit are unlikely to meet his salary demands and the Gunners have the chance to lure him.

There has been much talk about Rabiot’s attitude in the media, but the midfielder has proved his critics wrong this campaign where he has been playing the best football of his career.

Much like Granit Xhaka, he has excelled from the number eight role in the current season with regular goal involvements, but he can also play with more defensive responsibility.

Juventus may probably want £10m for Rabiot in January. In our view, the Gunners should land his services and use the extra funds for a marquee forward to cover up for Gabriel Jesus’ injury absence.
