Arsenal handed big boost in signing Marcus Thuram

Arsenal have been handed a big boost in signing Borussia Monchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram during the January transfer window.

The Gunners are looking to bolster their attack next month and a new centre-forward could be signed after the knee surgery for Gabriel Jesus.

Thuram was recently linked with a move to the club and SportBild now claim that he could be sold by Monchengladbach for €12 million.

The Frenchman has been in fantastic form for the Bundesliga side this term, registering 13 goals and four assists from just 17 appearances.

He is currently with his country for the World Cup in Qatar and there are claims that he could be starting for Les Bleus in the final this afternoon.

Regardless of what happens, Monchengladbach are likely to sell him for a knockdown fee as his contract is due to expire at the end of the campaign.

The 25-year-old has been Monchengladbach’s main striker this season. He has impressed with his finishing, physical presence as well as hold-up play.

Thuram has also caught the eye with his dribbling. He has the ability to switch to the left-wing similar to Jesus. He was a regular winger at the start of his career.

In our opinion, the Gunners must look to sign the Frenchman in January. He fits their transfer policy of pursuing players with room for improvement.

His versatility is another a big boost for manager Mikel Arteta as he could utilise him on the left flank when Jesus returns to full fitness in a few months’ time.

The low transfer fee for Thuram would allow the Gunners to target a marquee central midfielder which should be the prime priority for the January transfer window.

Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has been heavily linked with the club in recent weeks.
