Arsenal back in for Raphinha after Mudryk transfer blow
Arsenal are looking at the possibility of signing Barcelona winger Raphinha after Chelsea hijacked the transfer of Mykhaylo Mudryk, Sport Italia claim.
Mudryk has been the Gunners’ top target for the January transfer window, but the Ukrainian is now on his way to Stamford Bridge in a deal worth €100 million.
The Gunners’ hierarchy have made it clear that they won’t meet the demands of Shakhtar and Mudryk could be confirmed as a Chelsea player in the coming hours.
The news is a definite blow for the north London giants and it is now reported that the board are looking at alternative solutions including former target Raphinha.
Arsenal had their sights on pursuing the Brazil international from Leeds United last summer, but the winger had the clear intention of joining the Catalan giants.
Raphinha has fared well for the Spanish club with eight goal involvements from 22 appearances this season, but he has been limited to just 49 minutes per game.
Sport Italia now claim that Arsenal have had ‘exploratory contacts in the last hours’ for Raphinha to ‘understand the possible feasibility of the negotiation’. They have yet to make a bid.
Arsenal must have Plan B after Mudryk blow
Mudryk were making progress in the negotiations for Mudryk but Chelsea hijacked the deal out of nowhere. Arsenal have now decided to move on rather than entering into a bidding battle.
Raphinha was a player at the top of the Gunners’ wishlist in the summer. Edu Gaspar himself confirmed that he had held talks with his agent Deco, who has been a close friend of his.
The Gunners’ sporting director could utilise the good relationship to prise away Raphinha if the Brazilian has any regrets over his decision to join Barcelona in the last transfer window.
Some Arsenal fans may not like the club reviving their pursuit of Raphinha, but the Brazilian has a good track record in the Premier League with 29 goal contributions in 69 games for Leeds.
He was pivotal in keeping them in the top-flight last campaign. He is currently valued at £44 million by Transfermarkt. Barcelona could be open to a sale amid their financial woes.

We lost Muddy because we dithered for weeks making 3 bids. This is so typical. If a
Club punlicly states they expect over £80m wtf are you doing bidding 46 then 52. Its pathetic
I beg to differ. What Mikel has done at arsenal is nothing short of miraculous and does not seem to lose ground. But what graham potters is doing at Chelsea doesn’t seem to excite us. Advantage still the gooners. Will trust Mikel whoever they bring in…. And save some money along the way
Please this news on raphina it’s all hurts and don’t make sense it’s rather we go for Brighton players,,mitoma, trossard & Mac allister or nothing else 😕😥,,, please be wise
Arsenal can never change, they can frustrates and embarrass their fans they don’t care how you feel or disappointed you could be
Arteta must have seen something in Mudryk that he felt would be useful to Arsenal despite what people say regarding the price being too high.
This is just typical Arsenal – Arsenal through and through.
Best opportunity for years and they still look to count their pennies.
Paying over-the-top money for a player unproven in the PL, we have two of the best wingers in the world at the moment in Saka and Martinelli, so who would you drop for Mudryk? I would rather use the money to secure new deals for the two. I am glad Arsenal didn’t give into their greed, let Chelsea have him
Arsenal must buy Thuram and Raphinha with that money if they don’t have bad intentions concerning the funds meant for Mudryk deal.
Let Chelsea also run and hijack Rafinha since they like using us as scout. And the board should leave this delaying tactics which they know always that our opponents take advantage of it to strangtene there squad. See how delaying cost us in Martinez who is now a key figure at man U, then from Felix to Mudryk. Come on board members wake up please!!!!
Arsenal have become the Aldi of the Premiership. Arsenal need to identify the players they need and just pay up and get it done. Arsenal they Dilly & Dally every transfer window and then some other club sweeps in and snaps up the player from under their nose.
