Thomas Partey was an unsung hero in derby win

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey produced a superb performance on Sunday as the Gunners registered a 2-0 Premier League win over arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

The Ghanaian has formed a terrific midfield partnership with Granit Xhaka this season and he was in top form against Spurs with his superb range of distribution.

Partey was involved in both goals scored by the Gunners with key passes. He was also unlucky to not find the back of the net. His sublime volley struck the woodwork.

The 29-year-old finished the game with 87 touches and 66 passes completed, but was also impressive defensively, winning five duels as well as four tackles.

Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and Aaron Ramsdale were among the stand-out performers today, but in our opinion, Partey was the unsung hero of the derby.

The Ghanaian is currently playing his best football in the Gunners’ shirt. His control and decision-making in the centre of the park paved the way for a solid victory.

Arsenal are now eight points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.

Despite the handy lead, the Gunners should not look too far ahead and must concentrate on a game-by-game basis and ensure that they are on the winning side each time.

The club will be back in action against Manchester United at home next Sunday. The Red Devils should pose a much difficult test with their forwards in good form as well.

United are the only side to beat the Gunners in the league this term. The players must avoid any defensive errors against the Red Devils, who like to play on the counter-attack.
