Big blow for Newcastle as Arsenal reportedly could sign ‘sensational’ Ivan Fresneda

Arsenal have joined Newcastle in the race to sign Real Valladolid youngster Ivan Fresneda in the January transfer window.

That’s according to a report from TuttoMercatoWeb who claim that Arsenal and Newcastle are battling Juventus for the 18-year-old right-back’s signature this month.

And he is allegedly available for around €15 million (£13 million).

Described by Goal as a ‘sensation’, the 18-year-old is a scary talent, and has the kind of potential needed to go on and become a true star in the Premier League…

Arsenal and Newcastle challenging for Ivan Fresneda

With reports in Italy claiming that Fresneda is a transfer target for Arsenal, Newcastle will undoubtedly be concerned that they could now miss out on one of Eddie Howe’s prime January transfer targets.

It was reported by Goal back a the start of the month that the Magpies were leading the race to sign the Real Valladolid starlet.

Considering Arsenal’s current position in the league though, Howe may well now have his work cut-out.

Fresneda has played 11 games for Valladolid this season and has not looked out of place one little bit at senior level. He has pace in abundance and as you would expect from a young Spaniard, exceptional technical ability.

The 18-year-old may not be physically ready for Premier League football yet, but that’s something that he can easily work on. And if Arsenal beat Newcastle to the signing of Ivan Fresneda, it will be a massive coup for the north London outfit.
