Arsenal allegedly could sign Nicolo Zaniolo for €40 million in the January transfer window

Arsenal allegedly could sign Nicolo Zaniolo from AS Roma in the January transfer window.

That’s according to a report from Italian publication La Repubblica who claim that Roma could demand as much as €40 million from Arsenal for the 23-year-old attacker.

The 11-capped Italy international is at his best when operating as a number 10, but he can also play on both wings if need be.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta clearly wants to bolster his attacking ranks at the Emirates, and is now on the hunt for an alternative to Mykhaylo Mudryk, having missed out on the Ukrainian to Chelsea.

It seems as though the Gunners could go shopping for a player managed by one of their fiercest old foes – Jose Mourinho…

Arsenal allegedly could sign Nicolo Zaniolo

La Repubblica reckon that the Gunners have initiated contact with the 23-year-old Roma star. And it is alleged that Mourinho could sell him for around €40 million this winter.

What a superb signing Zaniolo would be for Arsenal, should Arteta manage to bring him to the Emirates this month.

Serie A’s official YouTube account describe the Italian as an ‘extraordinary’ player. He possesses truly exceptional technical ability, but in addition to that he has the physicality and tenacity needed to succeed in the Premier League.

The 6ft 3in attacking midfielder has bagged 52 goals 30 assists in 214 career appearances. He really would provide superb competition for Martin Odegaard in the number 10 role at Arsenal.

It must be said though, Arteta should surely be prioritising the signing of an out and out wide player with blistering pace – something that the Roma ace doesn’t exactly possess. Who are we to question the Spaniard though?

Arsenal allegedly could sign Nicolo Zaniolo for just €40 million in January and whatever way you look at it, that’s a very good deal indeed. And nabbing a top-class player from one of their fiercest old foes Mourinho, would make it all the sweeter.
