Report: Arsenal could now sign ‘sensational’ Everton star Amadou Onana in January

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Everton midfielder Amadou Onana in the January transfer window.

That’s according to football journalist Sacha Tavolieri who claims that the 21-year-old’s exit from Everton this month was previously unthinkable, but now after Frank Lampard’s sacking, Arsenal are ready to pounce.

Everton signed Onana from French club Lille in the summer transfer window for around £33 million (BBC).

However, given the Toffees current situation in the Premier League table, coupled with their financial plight, the Belgium international’s stay at Goodison Park seemingly could be short-lived…

Arsenal eyeing up Amadou Onana swoop

It has been suggested by Sacha Tavolieri that Onana, 21, could be prised away from Everton by Arsenal this month, although Chelsea and Newcastle could try to sign him as well:

Onana is a really special talent. He has been described by Sport Magazine as a ‘sensational’ young player. Meanwhile, he’s been labelled as an ‘incredible’ player by Total Football Analysis.

Sure, he has struggled to really impress with Everton but is that a surprise to anyone? The Toffees have been the worst team in the Premier League this season, and most players would have found it hard to establish themselves at Goodison Park.

The Belgian does have all the qualities needed to succeed in the Premier League though, and he’d be a great long-term successor to Thomas Partey at the Emirates.

I actually think that Amadou Onana could br a great addition for Arsenal, both for the here and now and the future. His playing style is very Patrick Vieira-esque. His long legs make for a gangly running style that the Arsenal fans will be all too familiar with. And the Belgian could end up being a huge player for the Gunners in the future.
