Report: ‘Brilliant’ Weston McKennie waiting for Arsenal to sign him despite PL club leading race

Weston McKennie is waiting for Arsenal to make an approach to sign him, despite Leeds United leading the race for his signature.

That’s according to a report from Calcio Mercato who claim that Leeds are pushing to sign the 24-year-old, whilst he is waiting on Arsenal.

McKennie would be a fabulous addition for the Gunners, and Mikel Arteta should be going all out to bring him to the Emirates in my opinion.

It shouldn’t be too difficult for the Spaniard to do just that, judging by the latest report coming out of Italy.

Weston McKennie wants Arsenal move

Calcio Mercato reckon that the United States international wants a move to Arsenal instead of Leeds. And he would be a terrific addition for the Gunners, so what is Arteta waiting for?

McKennie could be available for a bargain €30 million (£26 million) fee this month as well (Daily Mail).

The 24-year-old was once described as a ‘brilliantly bright’ midfielder by Bundesliga’s official website. And they’re spot on – he has literally everything needed to slot into this Arsenal team seamlessly.

McKennie is exceptional on the ball and has energy, drive and dynamism in abundance. The American would be a great option for Mikel Arteta as the season goes on. The Spaniard currently has little in reserve in the central midfield department, and should Thomas Partey or Granit Xhaka suffer an injury, the Gunners could be in real trouble.

Arsenal signing Weston McKennie would really strengthen the engine room at the Emirates though, and for just £26 million, bringing him to north London should be a no-brainer for Arteta.
