Mikel Arteta plots monster January bid for ‘world-class’ Martin Zubimendi who wants to join Arsenal

Mikel Arteta admits Arsenal need abrupt solution to boost midfield woes

Arsenal are reportedly now eyeing up a move to sign Martín Zubimendi as a cheaper alternative to Moises Caicedo.

That’s according to a report from the Times who claim that Zubimendi could be picked up for £53 million in the January trnasfer window – £7 million less than the club’s rejected bid for Caicedo.

And the good news is that the 23-year-old Real Sociedad ace allegedly wants to join the Gunners this month.

Brighton allegedly want around £75 million for the 21-year-old midfielder (Evening Standard). So Zubimendi would represent far better value for the north London club…

Arsenal eye up Martin Zubimendi bid

The Gunners reportedly could now switch attention from Moises Caicedo to the Real Sociedad star.

The 23-year-old has the ability needed to be a world-class player. He is a terrific talent, there is no doubt about that. Zubimendi operates as a deep-lying central midfielder and as you would expect from a Spaniard, he has marvellous technical ability.

The Sociedad ace is incredibly energetic and has pace and stamina to burn. The one question mark about him is whether he has the physical capabilities to succeed in the Premier League, although it must be said that he has been fairly robust throughout his career to date.

And whilst Caicedo should be Arsenal’s number one transfer target, the Spaniard is a close second. Signing him for £53 million will be fantastic business in the long run for the Gunners in my opinion.

And Arteta needs to get a deal for Martin Zubimendi over the line before Tuesday’s deadline.
