Arsenal agree £12m fee to sign Jorginho, set for medical
|Arsenal are close to landing the signature of Chelsea midfielder Jorginho after finalising a deal worth £12 million, according to David Ornstein.
The north London giants have had their sights on landing Brighton & Hove Albion’s Moises Caicedo over the past few days but the Seagulls have made it clear that he is not for sale this month.
Hence, the Gunners have decided to pursue a short-term option in the form of Jorginho. The Italian is set to join the Gunners on a contract until June 2024 with the option for another 12 months.
A fee has already been finalised between the London rivals and Jorginho is expected to report to London Colney in the coming hours for his medical tests.
Jorginho has been a top player for the Blues over the past four-and-a-half seasons and played a big role in their Champions League success back in 2021.
His vast Premier League experience should come in handy for the Gunners as they look to sustain their title challenge ahead of Manchester City.
The 31-year-old should provide much-needed depth in the centre of the park for the Gunners. He should be an upgrade on Albert Sambi Lokonga who has failed to impress.
Arsenal currently have Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey as the regular midfield duo but third-choice Mohamed Elneny could be out injured for the season.
Jorginho should ease the concerns for the north London giants. He could be used in regular rotation in the coming months to lessen the work load on an injury-plagued Partey.
The Euro 2020 winner is set to become the Gunners’ third signing of the transfer window following the arrivals of Leandro Trossard and Jakub Kiwior.

I for once totaly understand why they have gone for him, its bcz almost all our midfield targets are ready to come only at the end of the season, not mid season which can affect their respective clubs and its the reason Brighton are refusing to sell now.
