Leandro Trossard must start against Brentford
|
Arsenal forward Leandro Trossard deserves to start over Gabriel Martinelli when the club host Brentford in the Premier League next weekend.
The Gunners suffered a big dent in their title pursuit on Saturday afternoon as they were beaten 1-0 on the road to struggling Everton.
The Toffees played with renewed belief under new boss Sean Dyche and the Gunners looked second best for vast parts of the game.
In our opinion, Arsenal did not deserve a point from the Merseyside trip. Hopefully, there will be a strong response next weekend.
Brentford will be Arsenal’s next opponents at the Emirates Stadium and we believe manager Mikel Arteta should make a change.
The Gunners boss has stuck with the same attacking quartet for several weeks but in our view, Martinelli should drop to the bench.
The Brazilian has had a top season with seven goals and two assists in the league, but his form over the past few games has been average.
Against the Toffees, he failed to muster a single shot and struggled to get the better of Seamus Coleman.
Hence, he was substituted at the hour mark. Trossard, who came on for him, was definitely more lively from the left flank for Arsenal.
He did not find the back of the net but managed two shots on goal with one of those testing Jordan Pickford.
The €30 million-rated attacker also won two tackles and showed more intent than Martinelli, who was barely a threat over 59 minutes.
It will be interesting to see whether Arteta ponders over a change. Trossard deserves to make his full league debut for the club next weekend.
Despite the defeat, Arsenal stay top of the Premier League with a five-point lead over Manchester City.
They will be hoping that Tottenham Hotspur can do them a favour tomorrow by beating the Cityzens.

Instead, drop nketiah and push martinelli as a number 9. Trossard can occupy left wing. Nketiah is only good on one on one with the keeper but does not work with others.
Both Martinelli and Saka need a rest from the starting 11. They can come off the bench, but start others. If we are well up in a game then rest them and don’t bring them on for the last 15-20 minutes. Our problem is at present there is no alternative to Nketiah, a player not used to playing week in, week out. Time to blood a youngster if we are up.
Arsenal always have a problem with sidesthat are physical in their game.Who can forget Reyes being repeatedly kicked by the Nebille bros and Eduardo cruelly injured.
Until MA solves 2 men marking our key playerz ie Odeggard,Saka and Martineeli, etc,Atsenal will find it hard to win against teams
As for Dyche, one win doesnt make a summer
