Arsenal among four English clubs tracking Ansu Fati

Arsenal are one of four English clubs keeping tabs on Barcelona winger Ansu Fati ahead of the summer, Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo claim (page 5).

The Gunners reinforced their attack with Leandro Trossard last month, but they are likely to invest on a young and talented winger at the end of the campaign.

It is now reported that they are monitoring Fati, who has failed to nail down a regular starting role under manager Xavi Hernandez in the current season.

Aside from Arsenal, there are three English clubs tracking him including Tottenham Hotspur. There is also interest from three foreign sides. Bayern Munich are one of them.

Fati would be a statement signing for Arsenal

The 20-year-old was touted as the next big thing at Barcelona after a bright start to his career, but his progress was hampered by a couple of long-term injuries.

The €50 million-rated youngster continues to be highly-rated by Xavi but he no longer has the assurance of regular playing time from the starting line-up.

With Barcelona’s financial concerns, a mega-money exit could be a possibility. Whether the Gunners will make a serious transfer approach for him is a big question.

Fati is predominantly a left winger, who can also play up front occasionally. Arsenal have the left-wing position well covered with Gabriel Martinelli, Trossard and Emile Smith Rowe.

Martinelli only penned a new long-term contract this month. Hence, we would be surprised if the Gunners prioritise Fati’s signature during this summer’s transfer window.

The focus could instead be on pursuing a specialist right winger to provide competition to Bukayo Saka.

Saka has tended to play 90 minutes in almost every Premier League game. Manager Mikel Arteta could make it a priority to bolster his right wing options ahead of next season.
