Arsenal handed big chance to sign Moussa Diaby

Arsenal have been handed a big chance to sign Moussa Diaby this summer with Bayer Leverkusen planning a mega upheaval of their squad.

The Gunners were interested in signing the Frenchman during the January transfer window, but Leverkusen made it clear that he was not for sale.

However, their stance is expected to change in the summer amid what has been a ‘crisis season’ for them.

The German outfit are currently 10th in their league table. They are already 12 points behind the Champions League positions.

Meanwhile, Leverkusen are 10 points adrift of the top-six and they could miss out on European football altogether next season.

It is now reported by Bild that the club are planning a mega upheaval of their squad this summer and are prepared to sell their prized assets.

Diaby, Piero Hincapie and Jeremie Frimpong are likely to be sold. The Gunners continue to be mentioned as contenders to sign the former.

Arsenal could return for Diaby this summer

Arsenal turned to Diaby after their transfer setback on Mykhaylo Mudryk. Leverkusen were in no mood to sell him midway through the season.

However, the scenario will be different in the next transfer window and the Gunners could make a renewed approach to land the Frenchman.

Diaby, who is described as ‘incredibly fast‘ by Eurosport, has 13 goal contributions for Leverkusen this term. He has largely played on the right wing.

The Gunners have the position well covered with Bukayo Saka, but manager Mikel Arteta will have to manage the Englishman’s workload in future.

Saka has played almost 90 minutes in every league game he has started. In our view, Diaby would be a solid deputy to provide good competition.

He is currently valued at €50 million by Transfermarkt. This is definitely a fair value for the 23-year-old, who is also comfortable playing on the left flank.
