How Arsenal’s next three results can put rival title challenge to bed

Arsenal have the opportunity to end Manchester United’s title charge by winning their next three Premier League games.

The Gunners recently returned to winning ways with a terrific 4-2 comeback triumph over Aston Villa away from home.

They are now two points ahead of second-placed Manchester City and five in front of Manchester United with a game in hand.

The title race will likely go down to the wire but the Gunners can certainly create a healthy advantage over the Red Devils.

Mikel Arteta’s side are due to face Leicester City on the road on Saturday before hosting Everton and Bournemouth on March 1 and March 4 respectively.

These are three winnable fixtures on paper. If they manage to win each of those, they could go 14 points clear of United, having played two more games more.

The Red Devils have a Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United this weekend before hosting West Ham United in the FA Cup fifth round on March 1.

Hence, United won’t be back in top-flight action until they face Liverpool at Anfield on March 5. By then, Arsenal would have played three league games.

In our opinion, points on the board are always better than matches in hand. A 14-point lead for Arsenal would pretty much put United’s title charge to bed.

Their title pursuit could be well and truly over if they fail to beat Liverpool at Anfield. The Red Devils have not beaten their arch-rivals on the road since 2016.

Arsenal face a crucial period ahead in the league. The victory at Villa Park has changed the mood around the club. They now need to build another winning run to boost their title hunt.
