Gabriel Magalhaes excels in Leicester City win

Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes produced a superb performance during the club’s 1-0 Premier League win over Leicester City on the road.

The Gunners went into the game as favourites to pick up another win and they dominated the proceedings in the first half without taking the lead.

Leandro Trossard came up with a stunning strike from outside the box, but VAR chalked off the goal due to Ben White holding onto the goalkeeper.

Thankfully, it did not make a difference as Gabriel Martinelli scored the match winner shortly after the break.

Leandro Trossard grabbed the assist with a brilliant nutmeg, but Magalhaes also needs to be appreciated for his precise long ball towards the Belgian.

In our opinion, the 25-year-old was the unsung hero of the victory as he comfortably handled the threat coming his way from the Foxes’ front line.

Over 90 minutes, the Brazilian had 70 touches and 47 passes with seven successful long balls.

Defensively, he made five clearances, two tackles and won 100% of his ground and aerial duels (4/4).

It was definitely a commanding defensive performance from Magalhaes, who has looked back at his best over the past two outings for the Gunners.

Despite the win, Arsenal remain only two points ahead of Manchester City at the top of the standings but the Cityzens have played a game more.

The Gunners will play their match in hand against Everton at home on Wednesday night and must capitalise with a third league win on the trot.

The Toffees outplayed Arsenal at Goodison Park in Sean Dyche’s first game in charge last month and Arsenal must avenge the result in midweek.
