Oleksandr Zinchenko excels for Arsenal in Everton win

Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zinchenko produced an outstanding performance during the club’s 4-0 Premier League win over Everton at the Emirates Stadium yesterday.

Mikel Arteta’s side had a difficult start to the game against the Toffees and they failed to muster an attempt on target during the opening 39 minutes of the contest.

However, they eventually broke the deadlock with a terrific right-footed strike from Bukayo Saka in the 40th minute and this opened the floodgates for the Gunners.

Gabriel Martinelli made it 2-0 in Arsenal’s favour before the break. Martin Odegaard trebled the club’s advantage before Martinelli bagged his second goal of the night.

There were plenty of stand-out performers for the north London giants but in our opinion, Zinchenko was instrumental to the result with his assist for Saka.

The Toffees looked comfortable defending two-on-one against Saka, but the whole dynamic changed with Arsenal getting more bodies on the right side of attack.

For the opening goal, Saka moved centrally with Martinelli occupying the right flank. Zinchenko pushed into the number 10 role before his through ball for Saka.

Aside from his assist, the left-back had a stunning 110 touches with 82 passes and four long balls. He also provided three key passes while winning three duels and completing two take-ons.

Zinchenko has been a fabulous signing for the Gunners this season and over the past few games, he has looked at his creative best from the playmaker role in attack.

It obviously comes natural to him as he plays in midfield for his national side and hopefully, he can continue the brilliant form in the season run-in for the Gunners.

Zinchenko has one part of his game where he could improve. He needs to guard against losing possession in his own half. Granit Xhaka saved his blushes yesterday.
