Arsenal continuing to track Dusan Vlahovic

Arsenal are continuing to monitor Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic ahead of the summer transfer window, according to Calciomercato.

The Gunners have had a fantastic campaign in the Premier League and they are top of the standings with a healthy five-point advantage.

There is still plenty of work to be done to secure the title but manager Mikel Arteta will certainly be backed with more funds during the summer.

With the club on course for Champions League football, there could be a bigger spending spree. A couple of marquee signings could be targeted.

The midfield department should be the main priority but Calciomercato cite that the Gunners continue to keep tabs on the situation of Vlahovic.

The Serbian striker is mentioned as a ‘well-defined target’ and it is added that a move could become a reality if Juventus finish outside of the Cups.

Will Arsenal sign a new striker this summer?

Arsenal started the season with Gabriel Jesus as their main man up front. He played a big part before the World Cup with several key goal contributions.

His knee injury paved the way for Eddie Nketiah to shine up front but the Gunners graduate has recently dropped to the bench amid inconsistent form.

Ahead of the summer, manager Mikel Arteta has a big decision to make on the striker situation.

Jesus is obviously the preferred choice when fit but it remains to be seen whether the Spaniard will be eyeing a strong competitor for the Brazilian next term.

Folarin Balogun could be an option after his loan stint at Reims where he has scored 16 goals, but the intensity of the Premier League is a whole different prospect.

If Arteta wants another marquee striker, we could see either Nketiah or Balogun leaving.

Vlahovic has been regularly linked but in our opinion, the Gunners should look at better options in the market over him, considering his injury record in recent times.

The Serbian has only netted 10 goals from 24 outings this term. With Juventus valuing him at £89 million, the Gunners could be better off targeting Goncalo Ramos.

Ramos has been in tremendous form for Benfica with 21 goals and eight assists. He was also brilliant at the World Cup for Portugal, bagging a hat-trick against Switzerland.

He currently has a release clause worth £106m in his contract but Benfica are open to selling him for £89m. He would represent better value for money over Vlahovic.
