William Saliba was back to his best vs Fulham

Arsenal defender William Saliba was back to his best during Sunday’s 3-0 Premier League win over Fulham.

The Gunners had a tricky challenge on their hands at Craven Cottage and they did not create any chances in the first 15 minutes.

However, they dominated the derby thereafter with countless number of scoring opportunities over 90 minutes.

Three first-half goals sealed the victory but they could have easily won the game by a 6-0 or 7-0 scoreline.

Leandro Trossard was brilliant in attack and bagged a stunning hat-trick of assists in the first half.

There were stand-out performers all over the pitch and we were particularly impressed with Saliba.

The Frenchman was superb for the Gunners at the start of the season but had a shaky patch after the World Cup.

In recent weeks, he has looked more assured in defence and had another top defensive showing at Craven Cottage.

The 21-year-old had 90 touches while completing 64 passes. He won four tackles, five duels and made seven clearances.

He also made two blocks but the main highlight of his display was the sublime long ball for Granit Xhaka.

With Fulham activating their high press, Saliba delivered a wonderful pass with his weaker left foot for Xhaka.

The Swiss went on to feed the ball to Trossard, who provided the assist for the second goal scored by Gabriel Martinelli.

In our opinion, the £44 million-rated star was back to his best against the Cottagers.

Arsenal remain five points clear of Manchester City after the impressive victory in west London. They can extend the gap to eight points next weekend against Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium.

Manchester City won’t be in action in the Premier League until after the international break. The Cityzens have a tricky game against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on April 1.
