Arsenal ‘most interested’ in signing Sacha Boey

Arsenal are most interested in signing Galatasaray defender Sacha Boey ahead of the summer transfer window, Tuttomercatoweb claim.

The Frenchman is currently in his second season with the Turkish giants and he has caught the eye with his impressive defensive displays.

The 22-year-old has registered a stunning three tackles and two clearances per appearance while winning 6.5 ground and aerial duels.

It is now reported that the Gunners are ‘most interested’ in landing the ex-Rennes man, but Milan could enter the race for his services soon.

The Rossoneri have opted against buying Sergino Dest after his loan stint from Barcelona and have earmarked Boey as a possible replacement.

Arsenal could invest on another right-back

Ben White has been the Gunners’ first-choice right-back this campaign with Takehiro Tomiyasu providing the back-up off the bench when required.

However, Tomiyasu has failed to stay unscathed over the entire season. He has been injury-prone and is currently out with a serious knee injury.

The Japanese is likely to return for pre-season training, but any setback could see the Gunners invest on another young right-back this summer.

Boey has excelled with his strong defensive attributes and could be a like-for-like replacement for Tomiyasu.

He is valued at €11 million by Transfermarkt, but Galatasaray are bound to demand a higher fee as he could be one of their ‘most important sales’ in history.

Whether the Gunners invest on the Frenchman could depend on Tomiyasu’s fitness in pre-season.

Aside from Boey, the north London giants are also looking at Real Valladolid teenager Ivan Fresneda, who was heavily linked with a January switch.
