Arsenal ‘most determined’ club to sign Milinkovic-Savic

Arsenal are the ‘most determined’ club in signing Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic this summer, according to Tuttomercatoweb’s Niccolo Ceccarini.

The Serbia international is one of the best box-to-box midfielders in Serie A. He has had another fine season with eight goals and eight assists in 38 games for Lazio.

With no plans to extend his contract expiring next year, he is likely to be sold in the summer and it is now claimed that Arsenal are ‘most determined’ to land him.

The story does not reveal any price tag but it has been recently reported that Lazio could sanction his sale for £35 million if they cannot convince him to prolong his stay.

Milinkovic-Savic would provide quality competition

Arsenal currently have Granit Xhaka as the regular choice in the number eight role. They lack a quality competitor for the position and must sort it out this summer.

Milinkovic-Savic would be a shrewd signing for the Gunners, considering he has vast experience in Serie A and has been a regular goal contributor throughout his career.

Defensively, he has also been hugely impressive with a stunning 7.6 duels and 1.6 tackles won per game. He has the physical attributes to succeed in the Premier League.

Despite the positives, there is a drawback when it comes to his distribution. He has completed only 77 per cent of his passes this term and has the knack of losing possession.

It will be interesting to see whether this hampers his prospects of joining the club. Of course, his passing range could improve with better players around him at Arsenal.
