Predicted Arsenal line-up vs Southampton

Arsenal will be aiming to return to winning ways when they host Southampton in the Premier League tonight.

The north London giants have been disappointing lately with back-to-back draws against Liverpool and West Ham United on the road. They had a two-goal lead in both games but squandered their advantage in the end.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta will want a strong response at the Emirates Stadium tonight. A victory would take the club seven points clear of second-placed Manchester City, having played two matches more.

Arsenal will ensure their return to the Champions League after seven years if they beat the Saints.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Predicted Line-up:

Aaron Ramsdale has struggled to keep clean sheets lately but he has been terrific between the sticks. He singlehandedly secured a point at Anfield with four key saves. The England star is expected to continue in goal.

In front of him, it could be the same back four from the West Ham draw. Ben White has been a more creative force in recent weeks and he bagged another assist last weekend at the London Stadium.

He is expected to start at right-back with Kieran Tierney continuing on the opposite end. Oleksandr Zinchenko has been practically ruled out of the game as he continues to nurse a muscular injury.

Meanwhile, Rob Holding should continue to partner Gabriel Magalhaes in central defence. William Saliba continues to remain sidelined with a back problem, as confirmed by the Gunners boss.

Gabriel had a tough outing against West Ham, conceding a costly penalty. He will be aiming to make amends.

In midfield, Arteta could be tempted to rest Thomas Partey after the Ghanaian’s sloppy passing versus West Ham. He was partly responsible for the opening goal after giving away possession.

In our opinion, Jorginho could start in the number six role while Granit Xhaka continues in the number eight spot. Further forward, Martin Odegaard should captain the side from his familiar number 10 role.

Bukayo Saka’s penalty miss proved costly in the 2-2 draw last weekend but Arteta should give his complete backing to the youngster, who has 23 goal contributions for the club this term.

The Gunners graduate should start on the right wing with Gabriel Martinelli on the left flank. Gabriel Jesus has four goals from his last three league starts and should lead the attack again.
